Meet Curt Zimmerman

Curt Zimmerman Senior Director - Business Services and Development

Curt earned his bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Wartburg College in 1982. Wartburg has been a special place where several members of Curt’s family attended. Their name is on the Wartburg football field and chapel clock tower!

He spent the first 24 years of his career in the family’s third generation feed and grain business in northern Illinois/ Curt served on the local CAH hospital board in Mendota for 13 years before joining ICAHN in 2010 as Director of Business Services and Development. He managed the planning, funding and construction of the ICAHN office building in 2017 – 2018.
Curt’s primary role is to coordinate and grow member business services and to support ICAHN’s many business partners and sponsors. He also plays a quasi-COO role administratively.

What do you love about rural healthcare?

I love working for ICAHN and supporting our member hospitals as best I can. We can all be proud of what our network is today. Having served 13 years on the Mendota Community Hospital board, I developed a strong appreciation for the role that our small, rural hospitals play in their communities as an essential provider of local healthcare services, as one of the largest community employers, and as a strong economic contributor. I have always been impressed with the many hats that hospital leadership wears within the four walls of the hospital, and the dedication they each have to serving their community. While my backgrounds in agriculture and healthcare are distinctly different, the common thread is that they are made up of people who are passionate about what they do, and the people they serve and support in their rural communities.
