Member Monday: Boyd Healthcare Services

Welcome to Member Mondays! Each week, we’ll introduce you to one of ICAHN’s 60 member hospitals, highlighting the unique programs and services that help keep rural Illinois healthy and thriving.

We’re starting at the very beginning, when Illinois hospitals were able to receive Critical Access Hospital (CAH) designation from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

In 1999, Thomas H. Boyd Memorial Hospital (now Boyd Healthcare Services) became one of the first Illinois hospitals to receive Critical Access Hospital designation. Since opening its doors in 1941, Boyd Healthcare Services has remained committed to providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare to Greene County and the surrounding communities.

Today, Boyd Healthcare Services includes five locations:

• Boyd Memorial Hospital
• Carrollton Rural Health Clinic
• Rural Health Center of Roodhouse
• Boyd Fillager Clinic – Greenfield
• Greene County Rural Health Clinic

Boyd Memorial Hospital serves as the cornerstone of the healthcare system, offering 24/7 emergency care, specialty and primary care services, rehabilitation, diagnostic services, wellness programs, and more.

Boyd is also home to Brighter Connections, a specialized program designed to help children with neurodevelopmental challenges thrive. The program was recognized as a 2025 ICAHN Community Award nominee for its impact on children and families throughout the region.

As part of its ongoing commitment to expanding access to healthcare, Boyd Healthcare Services recently broke ground on a new Rural Health Clinic in White Hall. The clinic will help increase access to primary care for residents of North Greene and the surrounding communities while strengthening the organization’s ability to meet the region’s growing healthcare needs.

As Boyd Healthcare Services continues to grow, it remains dedicated to providing exceptional care close to home and ensuring rural communities have access to the healthcare services they need.
