The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) announced its “4 Under 40” Hospital Leadership winners, including Raigan Brown, Director of Emergency, Outpatient and Inpatient Departments, UnityPoint Health Memorial Hospital, during its 15^thAnniversary Celebration and Annual Conference, held October 29-30 at the I-Hotel and Conference Center, Champaign, IL.

Ms. Brown is joined by Tanna McCullough, Nurse Practitioner, Lawrence County Memorial Hospital, Lawrenceville; Heidi Apperson, Director of Marketing and Community Relations, Kirby Medical Center, Monticello; and Rebecca Hutchinson, Quality and Risk Manager, Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.

“Raigan is self-motivated and results-oriented. She takes ownership and steps up to lead many work groups/committees, and she has a passion for doing the right thing even if it means more work for her,” said Cynthia Stewart, Director of Marketing/Communications/PR, UnityPoint Health Memorial Hospital, Carthage. “The team trusts her to follow through.”

Stewart further added that Raigan demonstrated leadership from the very beginning of her time at Memorial Hospital as a staff nurse in the Emergency Department and that Raigan was promoted quickly. “Raigan was soon identifying projects that would help the department and was asking for more responsibility,” said Stewart.

The implementation of UPH Memorial Hospital’s new EMR, EPIC, and assuming the lead role on its new ACO and the Opioid Task Force are among the new responsibilities and high impact issues Raigan has undertaken, in addition to chairing UPH Memorial Hospital’s newly developed Service Excellence Council.

“To put it simply, when Raigan is at your table in a group, you know she is going to step up, initiate conversation on how to solve problems, and that she is going to take action,” said Stewart. “These are all signs of a good leader.”

The “4 Under 40” Hospital Leadership Award is open to new and emerging leaders age 40 and under employed by an ICAHN member hospital or as a member of this hospital’s board for at least two years with a strong record of innovations and outstanding performance.
